A Blue Tribute to You – BG Jenkins

A Blue Tribute to You

A Blue Tribute to YouJust a blue collar worker
In his blue shirt and pants,
With a gleam in his blue eyes,
In his Chevy truck plant.

Full of pride in his work place
With blue trucks that were fine,
Where the work’s never easy
On assembly truck lines.

Working hard ev’ry day then,
By the sweat of your brow,
To complete all your projects,
To stand tall then and now.

If you love what you’re doing,
And your mission is true,
You’ll work hard for your fam’ly.
Gotta do what you do.

All the years have rolled by you
Like the trucks off the line,
And your heart still is whisp’ring
“We did good in our time.”

To the dreams not forgotten
For the work which you loved
A reminder awaits you
With each glance of a truck.

To the blue collar workers
In resilience and truth,
For your ethics and hard work,
A blue tribute to you.

We;re just singing the blues.

  2. I feel this poem for the blue collar worker since I grew up under their shadows here in Dayton Ohio! Excellent tribute to their hard work!
